Property in Argentina
The Financial Times (FT.com) recently featured Buenos Aires real estate as a main Saturday feature and not a weekend goes by when one and even two writers feature Buenos Aires and Argentina in various travel and culture articles. The British public wants to know more about Argentina.
Why are the British interested to travel to Argentina or buying real estate in Argentina
Argentina is a place that most British people have either visited, want to visit or in the past, naybe they had family who either worked or lived in Argentina. There is a great British love affair with Argentina since the early nineteenth century that not even the politicians either side of the Atlantic will dampen with their rhetoric and saber rattling.
In my opinion, Argentina has the most cultured and educated of the South American peoples and they share many British passions, not least sport.
During the latter part of the nineteenth century there were many British/Argentine institutions and still today some of the oldest schools in Argentina have British origins, not least St. Andrew’s Scots School and St. George’s College.
Moreover, two British passions, Football and Polo, introduced to Argentina by British expatriates are national sports and much to our dismay, sports in which Argentine now excels.
So much has gone wrong since the days when the British were a big part of Argentine culture and Great Britain a trusted friend, but time has not tempered the British love affair with this great country and indeed, I live in Argentina and I am married to an Argentine.
The UK is a miserable place at the moment and many people dream of moving away and owning real estate in foreign lands. Many Brits I speak to are thinking about moving abroad and tired of Europe they are showing an interest in Argentina and buying Argentine real estate.
One of our group companies (www.tierraestates.com) is recently featured in the Financial Times of London and I get a mention too! My point, there are many bargains to be had in Argentina, particularly at the high-end or luxury Argentine real estate sector where properties are more difficult to sell and in my opinion, it’s a buyer’s market. We negotiate very hard for our clients to get Argentine real estate at the right price or we just do not buy. When buying real estate in Argentina, patience is the name of the game!
